Exactly a year ago, our spies caught a heavily camouflaged prototype of the upcoming small Fiat Mobi pickup for the first time. The same test car was discovered two months later during cold winter tests. If you take a closer look at the bodywork on the back of this vehicle, you will probably find that nothing has really changed; it is now less box-shaped than before. Needless to say that this is not the actual shape of the small truck, but we can at least say that something has changed in the past 12 months. See that the prototype, according to recent reports, that the tiny truck was in the first quarter of this Year will make its debut, is still largely hidden. Fiat has probably decided not to reveal the test car and to continue testing the model with what is currently available.
The Mobi will drive on an updated version of the platform that supports the Fiorino delivery van. The power should come from two petrol engines – a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated engine with 88 hp (66 kilowatts) and a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder with a peak output of 109 hp (81 kW). Both mills are supplied with a five-speed manual transmission as standard, while the stronger duo is optionally available with a six-speed automatic.
Don't expect to see the Mobi in the US – the truck is specially designed for the South American markets, especially for Brazil. The chances of seeing it outside the continent are extremely slim.
